BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION RECALLS

April 4, 2016

https://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm629213.htm

Look here for most recent recall information.

There have been multiple instances of recalls for certain blood pressure medications, mostly forms of valsartan but also one small recall of losartan combination medication.  So far, these have all been pills that were manufactured by Chinese companies, and sold here.

If you take valsartan for high blood pressure, please contact your pharmacy to see if your specific pills are part of the recall.

UNITED HEALTHCARE CUSTOMERS

Nov 16,2018

If you have received a letter from UnitedHealthcare that we are no longer "in network" this is news to us. No, we don't know why they have sent these out. They have not contacted US at all about it, which is a breach of contract, and their stated reason for the change is that we somehow "impair their ability to provide affordable health care."

Right.

First, They don't "provide health care" and if you know anything about us, no one - NO ONE- thinks about this, and actually does it, more than we do.   They pay us less than they do Big Medicine practices, so the implication that somehow we cost them more is false.  Since they don't follow any rules obviously, we cannot guarantee they will cover any services for now unfortunately.

Second, How is his is good for their customer? Again, right. This negatively impacts their customers' health care and if you received a letter, PLEASE CALL THEM TO COMPLAIN. They don't listen to us, but may listen to their paying customers.:  1 (866) 414-1959

Stay tuned.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS WITH  HUMANA INSURANCE PLANS

May 29, 2018

Dear Summer FamilyCare (SFC) patients who are customers of Humana.

Humana has persistent internal problems that lead to times they say that we are "out of network" when that is not the case.  They may even have sent you a new card with another physician's name as your "new Primary Care Physician," although you were neither informed of this or requested a change.  This is really an inappropriate, unethical and frankly dangerous action on their part.

Once they change what doctor you are assigned to, they will NOT cover a visit here until it is changed back, so try to do that before you need to be seen.

Remember, you are their customers and if you are dissatisfied with something they do, you should be able to express that to them.

Sincerely,

Drs. Summer and Summer

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS WITH  CIGNA AND UNITED HEALTHCARE (UHC) INSURANCE PLANS

Feb. 4, 2018

Dear Summer FamilyCare (SFC) patients who are customers of United Healthcare (UHC) and Cigna.

Cigna:  You may have received a letter stating Dr. Summer will no longer be in network after a date in March.  This is because they cancelled the old Tax ID number we had before updating with the new one.   We will not be out of network, as long as they fix their mistake in time.  There should be no excuse for not getting that done, but they don't work for us.

UHC:   The date of being back "in network" is officially 2/10/2018.  We hope they will be cooperative about the time between, but we are not holding our breath.

Remember, you are their customers and if you are dissatisfied with something they do, you should be able to express that to them.

Sincerely,

Drs. Summer and Summer
